CO-op intern

The Shop is looking for a ceramic studio intern!  This is a co-op/work exchange position that provides you with a free monthly membership in return for monitoring the studio for a day shift per week.  We are currently looking for someone to fill our Sunday shift (10-5)

This opportunity will provide you with practical experience about running and managing a pottery studio. 

This is an unpaid position.   

About YOU:

You must be a self-motivated worker who is eager to learn, excited about meeting new people, and very detail-oriented.   You must have great organizational skills, a friendly demeanor and the ability to think creatively outside the box.  Experience in ceramics and a commitment to learn more is a plus. 

Daily tasks might include:

  • Be a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging presence to all members

  • Provide technical, creative and administrative support to members when asked 

  • Perform studio duties as assigned by the studio owner/ manager/assistant, e.g.  opening/closing of the studio,  organizing and tidying studio, recycling clay, mixing glazes, organizing studio events, etc…

  • Perform member administrative duties such as managing memberships and day-passers, processing member payments, etc…

  • Enforce the rules and ways of working of the studio

  • Secure the health and safety of all members and staff in the studio

  • Support in the efficient running of the studio

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with others
